Acrylics: Acrylic on Bone - Bowers recycles natural artifacts that she finds during her travels, and gives new life and purpose to painted bones and animal skulls. She uses acrylic paints and works by commission only.
Cows, coyotes, bear skulls and other natural artifacts are Bowers’ canvasses. This longhorn steer is in the Piku collection in Key West, Florida.
Bowers’ art patrons are as diverse as her painted skulls. This one, a 3-foot by 4-foot Cape Buffalo bull, hangs in the office of a CNBC executive.
Painted acrylic on fiberglass; a 4-foot by 4-foot trophy Moonfish. Bowers also paints on the old skin-mounts, bringing new life to fish trophies tucked away in attics.
This mounted, South African Cape Buffalo was featured in “Bones and Blankets”, a two woman show with Jean Disrud at Kalypso Gallery in January 1995.
